About the author

Konrad Mägi (1878–1925) – one of the most prominent Estonian painters and pioneers of modernism in Estonian art. His work is distinguished by its expressive use of color, intense mood, and distinctive interpretation of the landscape, in which reality intertwines with inner experience.

In Mägi’s works, nature becomes not only the subject depicted but also a bearer of emotion—mountains, lakes, and coastlines are conveyed through rich, sometimes boldly contrasting colors.
